One-sided Love Story

I sit beside you in class. You never notice how often I sneak a stare at you. You're always busy doing stuffs I'm not interested at.

One time you caught me staring, I smiled at you and you smiled back. I told you my name and you told me yours.

Days passed by. I grew more and more interested at you. We're not friends though. We don't always talk much. We were just strangers sitting side-by-side, smiling at each other at times.

One day, I saw you at the library talking to another girl. I tried to say hi but your eyes were glued at her. You seemed so engrossed at whatever she was saying.

I asked about her the next day. You were startled caught off-guard, wondering how I'd known. I tried to sound nonchalant; like I'm not in a million ways interested. You just smiled and started talking. You told me how perfect she is, how much you love her, how much she makes your day, how different she is from every other girls, which made me realize how much of a loser I am compared to her.

It's funny how I seem to not notice everybody else when you're with me. I only see you. I can only think of you at night before I sleep. You're my every wish, my every dream. If only you could see me too, the way you see her. But then you don't. So I guess you'll never know how I feel.

If Only... (Excerpt)

Day 1

I always see you sitting at the farthest, darkest corner of the classroom talking

to no one but yourself. At first I knew you were something. Your eyes seem to

hide under your glasses. I think you're cute. I sighed and you seem to have

heard the sound. You looked up and caught me staring at you. That's when I

turned around and never dared to look at you again.

Day 2

You seem to be your usual self - aloof, mysterious, talking to no one. I noticed

you weren't wearing your glasses anymore. I knew I was right when I said you

were cute. Your eyes are gorgeous. It's as if staring at them makes someone

lose their mind. And as I was enjoying myself staring at you, you caught me for

the second time.

The Time-Date Continuum

The rules for when you can and can't do things in a relationship.

When it comes to how you behave in a relationship, it's what governs everything.

For example, after a guy texts you for the first time, you can't reply for at least three hours or you look desperate. And, after you actually go out with a boy, you need to make him wait a week between dates. It's called playing hard to get.

Likewise, though this is not something that happens, like, all that often, if you do happen to die while you're dating someone, he definitely, definitely, definitely is not allowed to suck face with anyone else until at least a month after your funeral. It just looks bad. Like he never cared about you in the first place.
